October 2012

Last weekend we had the chance to visit with two kidinboxes. One happens to go to the school there and informed me that one class presently attended is women’s studies. I was then treated to a couple of concepts: black women are the least taken seriously, and women make only 79% of what men do for the same job. I had to work on the last one for a moment and asked this trainee of the government dependence system, “Why would a business hire a man if a woman would do the same job for 20% less?” The reply was something on the order of the owner preferring to work with men and change of subject. That was quite an interesting exchange with the ideas presented in our school system. I noted the lack of ability to exchange and defend the associated premises of the assertion.

This further got the well of ideas springing forth, and I have had quite a time keeping the flow down to the simple concepts and areas where some actual education might be presented. In other words, how do I challenge these ideas in such a way that this student will actually read the concepts and think about them? Wow, quite a high bar there.

Initially, I would challenge statistics on the face unless the ability to examine their population is presented. After all, note the results of the presidential surveys. They are continually showing an increase in Romney’s results. Have that many individuals changed their minds, or have the surveys started to question numbers of voters more closely resembling the population of actual voters? I will leave that to your research. On the question of not being taken seriously, I wonder if the data were sorted according to the visual appearance, presentation, and verbal abilities of the respondents. After all, if someone comes to the office dressed like a bag lady, I don’t expect a verbal ability of a college graduate. You might say that is prejudice, I would present that as stereotype, and that is a subject for another blog. The presentation of material to an individual is related to their perceived ability to understand, and as such the visual and verbal approach an individual has determines the level of communication used. Was this level of consideration used in their statistics?

As for a woman receiving a lower pay for the same work, there are so many ways to approach this atrocious concept I almost don’t know where to start. I used the simple business approach with kidinbox and didn’t receive an adequate response. This may be partly due to the lack of training on thought and base concepts of an idea. I don’t mind tall grass as long as I can pull up occasional stalks and look at their roots. In this case, it would be foolish for a business man to hire other men for a job when 20% of his bottom line could be removed by the hiring of women. That single act would give him a 20% advantage over his competitors. Any male dominated business is at a 20% disadvantage from the starting design of their business – if that theory is correct.

I work for a business owned by a female. The company was designed by this female who is the head of two corporations. How did she get in this position? The history given at our training meeting and followed by a presentation of one of her executives relays the tale that she obtained a failing home health company from a company for which she worked at the time. The company was six figures in the red and she laid off all the office staff excepting the billing person. The work still needed to be done, so she learned and performed the office jobs while at the same time keeping her full time job. Picture that. Keep a full time job and then start performing three office jobs on your off time with the knowledge that failure would cost six figures. This company for which I now work is worth nine figures per year and is a statement of the success that ingenuity and phenomenal hard work produced.

The owner of my company was not a victim. That is the position of someone who claims figures of how they are not taken seriously and paid less. That is victim mentality, and taught to skulls full of mush (as Rush would say) without the slightest means to challenge the ideas presented. Are there areas of discrimination? Of course. Look at affirmative action and see discrimination applied to individuals exclusively due to their skin or sex. Reader’s Digest ran an article many years back on the impact of Affirmative Action and noted that a particular orchestra stopped its practice of blind evaluations of candidates to more effectively choose the minorities. The risk of defaulting on the government’s mandate was great enough that they behaved in a manner stating the minority musicians may have a lower ability and thus can’t compete in the blind test normally given. This governmental mandate cuts to the core of merit and removes the incentive achievers have to honestly compete.

The next argument associated with earnings of women simply looks at the comparison between workplaces of men and women. If women are judged in a man’s world, doesn’t that speak to the greatest value of the person being what income they could command? That is stating the man’s world is of the greatest value and the home is to be denied its worth.

Military heroes are given their honor and praise for their selfless acts in serving a cause greater than themselves. Hold that last thought for a moment and consider the small venue of the family. If that idea of serving something greater than themselves holds in the family, the man making income to support his crew and the woman serving as the bedrock of the home are both fulfilling that premise. The woman fulfills the home management roll with flying colors as opposed to the workplace where the man accelerates. Why should the home be sold short as if having lack of income determines worth? What price could one put on the ability to love one’s kids and provide their education and successfully enter them into the adult world? Compare that ability to the man’s world of providing finances to keep the home running, and I believe the home job wins. It simply requires the placing of family at a higher level of worth.

Spouseinbox and I are here in College Station with the special Olympics which is conducting a golf tournament this weekend. We have just returned from the dance they hosted, where I had a few observations. First, let me acknowledge that these are the Special Olympics specifically designed for those who have problems. I observed those with neurological as well as physical difficulties, and noted for example someone with a foot turned in towards the middle about 30 degrees. It was amazing to see this individual dance to their best ability when just walking would be a challenge. Others lined up and were dancing in line with hands on shoulders of the person in front. During this dance, I noted one in a wheel chair lining up with the line and another person pushing a wheel chair in the line. There were helpers dancing with Olympic contestants and assisting them in moves. There was one taking little glow sticks and making earrings or necklaces or simple rings and passing them to those who enjoyed their new toy. The only distressing moment I observed was someone separated from their party and an officer and assistant were trying to find the associates. Otherwise, joy and fun were noted by all present. We even did a bit of the chicken dance. That was a first for me.

While back in the crowd, I did my favorite activity, which was to observe the people there. This had me compare to my previous encounters with individuals in the state school (where I used to work) where residents were institutionalized due to their behaviors and lack of ability. The management there instituted paper after paper to regulate various activities and assessments while all the time missing the characteristic that the Special Olympics has going for itself. Those associated with the Special Olympics are volunteers and are there because they want to be. They bond with the individuals and assist as best they can. There is a caring there and in all probability a level of love which spurs an action which is not required of the person performing it. Those working in the State School have a tougher population, granted, but they are also there for a work day. No matter how much paperwork a bureaucracy requires, nothing will substitute for a person caring and providing love. Caring cannot be put on a piece of paper. Bureaucracy cannot care.

I have noted many discussions about Zero using the excuse of the video when he clearly knew it was terrorist planned attacks in Benghazi. The talking heads have mentioned wanting to divert attention and downplay the importance of the event, say that he was simply assessing information, and other excuses to cover egregious actions that would have had any other president tarred and feathered. The one item not mentioned is the first amendment. Think back how many times this government restriction was claimed as a problem. Hillary mentioned it, the rep to the UN mentioned it, Zero mentioned it. This leads me to think they were trying to use this attack as a starting point to remove our freedom of speech. Do I think they could repeal the first amendment? Of course not. This ideology survives by providing its enemies (us) a thousand cuts and death thereby. I think besides not wanting to offend is brothers, the muslims in Afica, Zero wanted to begin removal of another of our gasping for last breath, cherished, freedoms.

I saw a commercial the other day with kids in various costumes and proclaiming, “show your originality, show your creativity.” Like purchasing something mass produced and sold by the dozen off a rack is original. I remember taking a cardboard box, cutting two holes in the top and putting another cardboard box on top with the front cut out. I painted the set, put a stuffed toy out of one hole and my head in the other. The front proclaimed “computer bodies.” That’s original.

*update* I guess for full disclosure, I should mention that my intent at the time was to put “computer buddies,” but my spelling was not top notch in first grade.

(As I start working on this again, another day is past.) Every day is different. Some, more than others. For the moments I have wondered if God is with us on this new house deal, I have an experience to relate. The driveway was not to standard per the builder and he had it torn out, last week. That left the ground as the only thing between the curb and the garage. I have the desire to add a water softener to the house, but the water enters the house at the center on the opposite side of the driveway as the softener would be located. When the bare ground reappeared, I sent a query to the realtor to ask the builder if it would be all right for me to bury three pipes – 2, 1 inch water and a 3/4 inch conduit. The realtor said he would ask, but not to anticipate any results. About two hours later, my phone rings and the realtor asks if I was sitting. “Yes.” I got permission as long as the pipes were 15 feet away from the property line and finished by 1700 today. That meant yesterday evening was the only opportunity to work. By the way, I did tell the relator that I had prayed for the situation and was not incredibly surprised as the realtor was. Anyways, the rental places left me cold and Home Depot lost me. I placed a rental order as they had the only short rental times available and informed them that I would get off by 1700 and be there as soon as possible. As it worked, I was allowed off work early and was to Home Depot 5 minutes early. I requested my trencher and was informed that they would put my request in a list for the unit to return. Upon informing them that there was one on hold, I was told that it was already rented and should be back by 1900. Mind you the sun is setting by then, and the store closes at 2100 meaning I would be charged a full day rental for their mess-up. To add a bit of salt, the worker asked my name and noted the same name on the counter – with contact information. I just wanted all of you to know the customer service available at Home Depot.
I went to Lowe’s and bought a digging bar and spouseinbox joined me for the next three hours of digging the trench by hand. Bandaids are in place now, and it’s not easy to type as the hands are sore and muscles tight, but by golly, the pipes are buried and ready for a new driveway on top.

Upon arriving home again, I didn’t feel like eating much and made a cheese sandwich. Spouseinbox mentioned the debate going on, and I turned on the box to see if they were still performing. Zero was talking, and making some point about moving heaven and earth to get Bin Ladin. Interesting, I remember him turning down 3 possibilities of getting Bin, before finally allowing the job. He then retorted to Mitt how he had gone to Israel and described a trip to the Holocaust museum as if that was the equivalent of a diplomatic trip, and part of his apology tour that Mitt was referencing. I had to leave at this point, before verbal utterances emitted. I have a memory. There was the snub of Netanyahu at the whitehouse dinner, passing over him to get questions from the fawning ladies at the View. Why pass up praise to deal with hard reality? Grrrr! When one can’t pass up praise for reality, one needs a different line of work.

Music is marching along. There is a new song in the works which will make a gift for this Christmas for a relative. 🙂
I find creating this quite enjoyable and a break from the tension of our country’s destruction. I have found that breaks are needed when looking at all the junk being done under our noses. It helps maintain sanity. Then I can again look at the stress inducing news like: We are seeing an emergence of Hitler’s youth again.
Anyone with a small honest approach to history will see this one coming and know the next steps.
From a comment in the e-mail:
My thought on this, they are specifically picking 18-24 year-olds, and after that, the person involved will presumably go along in his/her life, with a $5,550 award for student loans or tuition. However, missing from this is any mention of the NCO or Officer Corps which will guide, and direct the actions of these people, and a promotion path for these youth, into the NCO or Officer ranks. Since they aren’t mentioned, and since they will fall under FEMA, and ultimately, DHS, I have to assume the bureaucrats in those agencies, under Obama, will be directing these youth. Also, by targeting them when very young, and then getting rid of them, FEMA & DHS insures that no “Organizational History” will develop, and be transmitted from older to younger members. Or stated another way, the DHS & FEMA bureaucrats will be the “Organizational History & NCO/Officer corps” and these FEMA youth corps, will be cannon fodder, to do whatever Obama & DHS wants.

Disturbing

The Germans have no illusions about our leadership. Why should we?
From Here. Thanks siblinginbox for the link.

There is nothing hilarious about these. It is sad that these individuals are part of our political history. How far the character of our leaders has fallen since Washington. Without further description, I will simply ask, “What does that require of us now?”
