August 2013

I have had an eventful week. This typing is a result of being tired and having accomplished some tasks.
Earlier in the week, spouseinbox and I went to a nearby city to obtain those Italian Cyprus trees for which I received a decent deal. We picked up 4 of them as well as the material to transplant them: bedding and root stimulator.
Other issues including a flat tire kept the week interesting, so I finally approached the project today.
We live in a relatively new subdivision and the houses here were put in on a former farm using caliche packed and then topsoil placed on top. I attempted to dig through the caliche to allow the roots access to the dirt below. I was unsuccessful – and tired. Exhausted. Red faced. Sweaty. About halfway through, I took a break and lay on the living room carpet to allow my temp to return to normal as well as the pulse rate to lower to 72 again. Most of the afternoon was spent in this activity until there were 4 holes about a foot deeper than the rootball on the trees. I then placed some topsoil into the holes to make the dirtballs ground level or slightly higher and applied the root stimulator, then surrounded them with a packing material recommended by the nursery. Cynically, I could say it was recommended to increase the sales price, but I looked at the material list and there were many items listed which would help the powdery topsoil we have here.
The trees were finally finished by supper time. Yea! I enjoyed a tired, satisfied meal.

Another issue from today was the shocks on the truck. I had the feeling that the shocks were going out, and when a tire went flat, I looked at the wear and confirmed that it was definitely one problem. Prior to going to the tire store for repairs, I went to the auto supply and obtained a full set of shocks of the highest caliber they had in stock. After all, we were going to use this truck to haul wood for the shed, then to move everything from the rental garage, so I thought it was a good expenditure. Items in hand, I went to the tire store and requested a price for them to change the shocks, and I had a set handy. “Sorry, we cannot use customer supplies,” was the reply given. I was given a price however – $600 and some change. Let’s see, I picked up a full set of shocks of the highest quality carried for under $200 allowing $100 apiece to change them. That task was accomplished this morning within an hour and without an address to send the bill. It did seem good to tell myself that the change was worth 4 days at work (their price less my pay rate) done within an hour. Now, if I could only find some other activity worth $400 per hour and start working it…

JOE vs. JOSE

You have two families: “Joe Legal” and “Jose Illegal”.
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California ..

Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.

Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number, and gets paid $15.00 cash “under the table”.

Ready? Now pay attention….

Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week, or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and federal tax;
Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.

Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week, or $31,200.0 0
per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes.
Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $24,031.00.

Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through the state and local clinics and emergency hospitals at a cost of $0.00 per year.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food, or $6,000.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.

Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for food stamps, WIC and welfare.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200.00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has 9,631 .00.

Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month Federal Rent Subsidy. Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00 per year.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for car insurance. Some of that is uninsured motorist insurance.
Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.

Jose Illegal says, “We don’t need no stinkin’ insurance!” and still has $31,200.00.

Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline, etc..

Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities, gasoline. and what he sends out of the country every month..

Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or gets a part time job after work.

Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.

Joe Legal’s and Jose Illegal’s children both attend the same elementary school. Joe Legal pays for his children’s lunches, while Jose Illegal’s children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal’s children have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal’s children go home.

Now, when they reach college age, Joe Legal’s kids may not get into a State School and may not qualify for scholarships, grants or other tuition help, even though Joe has been paying for State Schools through his taxes, while Jose Illegal’s kids “go to the head of the class” because they are a minority.

Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services, but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.

Do you get it, now?

If you vote for or support any politician that supports illegal aliens…
You are part of the problem!

It’s way PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!

What are you waiting for? Pass it on.

I put in the title to find a source, and found it listed in Free Republic as unknown.
One thing comes to mind slightly related to this: the minimum wage law sets a figure that employers are required to pay regardless whether the work is worth that wage. Enter illegal work willing to provide labor for a wage closer to market, and the stage is set to maintain this scenario no matter legality. Forcing the present illegals “out of the shadows” will only encourage more illegality because they are trying to create a market situation that is not plausible. Allow the market to determine wages, and illegal work would not be as attractive. In reality, I’m not holding my breath, because of the incredible power available to those who manipulate the marketplace. As mentioned earlier, it is much easier and cheaper to buy a congress critter than advertise to the market and attract buyers. This includes those selling their labor (unions) as much as a company selling its wares.

From an e-mail I received:
I was going thru the policestateusa site, and ran across this. NOTE: These points are considered justification for home invasion by the authorities

*Notice how they used some legitimate items which would have probable cause, and expanded to invasive violations.

How to serve a warrant:

What I found intriguing, beyond the apparent experience described was the bio at the end of the article. Quite a sobering thought.

For those who still believe this is the land of the free, I offer the following links:
monitoring
violation of 4th amendment
One that actually had a small amount of closure – 6 months later.
I know there are many more, but my BP is elevated enough at this point. What’s worse, I have a memory and know what it used to be like. Kids born in the last 25 years have no clue. What we have, for them, is the fish analogy – does a fish know it’s wet? Since they have never experienced freedom, there is nothing for a major percentage of this population to desire. Once the fecal matter starts to hit the oscillating air displacement device, there will be few who know for what to fight. Remember the military bill from a couple of Decembers ago where the government gave itself permission to detain anyone termed “terrorist” without charges and no trial? For anyone with a normal interpretation of “terrorist” look at what the left says a terrorist is: It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.”
(I tried to find one with a link to the actual document. Look at pg 5. Note that the left wing which does actual damage and groups like Occupy are not considered.)

I had the chance to catch Stubby in the very early morning as this fellow likes to hide in the daytime. So, before he dug back into the dirt, I obtained a picture to share with you our new addition to the wildlife here in bugville. Note that he has food between the water dish and the side of the tank. He has not decided to eat yet, so we are feeding the cricket in the hopes that the cricket will feed Stubby. Also note the color to the right rear leg. I can see that the amputation site is healing.

Spouseinbox and I both like cats. Once we had our own place, a feline joined the family. There are pictures of cats here and there and in the local lumbar yard was a figurine of a cat holding a welcome sign to be placed in the yard. It took up its abode in the flower bed beside the front door. Now this figurine was made of some thick plastic substance that looked nice, but was not very weighty and as such, spouseinbox decided to bring it into the house during one of those weird moments where clouds are overhead and some clear substance drops from the sky… Anyways, we are getting ready to go out and find some caloric substance when we notice Jake in the living room with a bottle brush tail starting to arch his back. I look around the living room and notice nothing out of place. Jake starts to inch down the hall and that’s when I realized what was happening. Of course I turn on the lights and grab the camera, but as I a not paying for video posting here, you get the thousand words instead. Jake menaced this statue, raised his paw at it, and even did his feline growl at it a couple of times. He would get no response, go back to the living room, and proceed to perform the actions again. Spouseinbox decided to help and went to the end of the hall, placed a cell phone behind the statue and started to play a sound recording of a cat purring. I interject, “you know you’re not helping.” It does seem that as long as spouseinbox is by the statue, Jake is all right to go down there and say hi. We think things are calm again and start to ready to leave – don’t forget those calories.
Jake starts again, and this time has the arched back and hopping sideways towards the statue. He got close this time, enough to paw its head, then back away. We put Jake in the bedroom and went to eat.
Upon return, Jake was released from confinement and we were treated to a sequel. Just like the sitcoms, he forgot to rewrite the script.
