We have friends from church who have an interesting ministry – the man takes the cross along the roads and speaks to whoever wishes to converse or need prayer. As much mileage as a nurse’s feet get, I believe this guy beats me. Anyways, we contacted he and his wife the other week and asked if there was anything they needed. The reply came that a wheel with spare inner-tube was needed. The size was provided and we went to the local hardware supply and found the appropriate parts. During the exam, I noted an inscription on the side of the wheel – “not for highway use.” Considering that this is where this individual did most of his walking, I had to comment and say, “I have your wheel, but it may be problematic as it says, not for highway use.” The reply returned, “i hope the police leave me alone.” (or something close to that.) Father-in-law was visiting, and I was telling him this tale. He provided his own: Apparently, many moons ago, he worked on a farm driving a tractor. Flats were a constant hazard with this piece of equipment and quite the pain in the neck. The owner discovered that there was an air base nearby which would sell their used tires to the farmer. These actually fit the tractor and allowed observers to note the speed limit of the tractor. Embossed on the side was, “not to be used over 200 miles per hour.”

“Circle the wagons” used to be a tactic the pioneers used on the trek west to face off with marauders.
Today it is a phrase used in political speak to “protect one’s own”.
And that is exactly what Obama, his administration, and the U.S. Department of Justice led by Eric Holder have done. Flawlessly, I might add.
Lois Learner will not be facing the Obstruction of Congress Charge levied against her by the House. Period.
I suppose to those of us that “sort of follow” the goings on in D.C. This doesn’t exactly come as any surprise, it’s just another day in the fever swamps of D.C. Another day of watching this administration and it’s army of unethical lawyers destroy any and all vestiges left of the US Constitution. Quite frankly from the outset, There was never a snow ball’s chance in hell that Holder was going to prosecute Lois Learner for her actions while working for the IRS.

THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER IS ON THE STORY: EXCLUSIVE: HILLARY CLINTON LESBIAN LOVERS NAMED IN SECRET EMAILS. “The ENQUIRER learned the list of Hillary’s lesbian lovers includes a beauty in her early 30s who has often traveled with Hillary; a popular TV and movie star; the daughter of a top government official; and a stunning model who got a career boost after allegedly sleeping with Hillary. Hillary made the huge mistake of mixing public and private messages while using her personalized email server – before risking a massive scandal by refusing to make the documents public.”
Campaign staff DROVE ‘ordinary’ Iowans to Hillary’s first campaign stop – including health care ‘lobbyist in training’ who was an Obama campaign intern and Biden chauffeur
Hillary Clinton’s astroturf candidacy is in full swing in Iowa.
Her Tuesday morning visit to a coffee shop in LeClaire, Iowa was staged from beginning to end, according to Austin Bird, one of the men pictured sitting at the table with Mrs. Clinton.
Bird told Daily Mail Online that campaign staffer Troy Price called and asked him and two other young people to meet him Tuesday morning at a restaurant in Davenport, a nearby city.
Price then drove them to the coffee house to meet Clinton after vetting them for about a half-hour.
The three got the lion’s share of Mrs. Clinton’s time and participated in what breathless news reports described as a ’roundtable’– the first of many in her brief Iowa campaign swing.
Bird himself is a frequent participant in Iowa Democratic Party events. He interned with President Obama’s 2012 presidential re-election campaign, and was tapped to chauffeur Vice President Joe Biden in October 2014 when he visited Davenport.
Reset: Hillary Was Taking Money from Frank Guistra Even As She Was Approving a Russian Purchase of His Company
The company in question will control 50% of the uranium produced domestically in the US — obviously, the sort of deal that most US governments would reject. You don’t let Vladimir Putin buy half of your own uranium production.
But Bill and Hill were friends with Guistra, and Guistra was a very friendly friend, to the tune of $131 million in donations to the Clinton Global Initiative, in addition to arranging for foreign governments to pay the Clintons directly for speeches.
Watch the whole thing. Via @gabrielMalor.
More: Allahpundit has a useful nutshell guide to Guistra’s and the Clintons’ maneuvers to deliver half of the US’ uranium to Vladimir Putin (and then, to Iran).

Washington (CNN) – Russian hackers behind the damaging cyber intrusion of the State Department in recent months used that perch to penetrate sensitive parts of the White House computer system, according to U.S. officials briefed on the investigation.
While the White House has said the breach only affected an unclassified system, that description belies the seriousness of the intrusion. The hackers had access to sensitive information such as real-time non-public details of the president’s schedule. While such information is not classified, it is still highly sensitive and prized by foreign intelligence agencies, U.S. officials say.
SPYING: U.S. secretly tracked billions of calls for decades. “The U.S. government started keeping secret records of Americans’ international telephone calls nearly a decade before the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, harvesting billions of calls in a program that provided a blueprint for the far broader National Security Agency surveillance that followed.” It’s lucky that the U.S. government is so ethical that we don’t have to worry about any of this information being politically abused. Love the picture of Janet Reno and her deputy, Eric Holder.

REMEMBER, IT WAS PERFECTLY TIMED TO GO WITH A WHITE HOUSE CAMPUS-SEX-OFFENSE CAMPAIGN: How Deep Is This Education Official’s Involvement In The Rolling Stone Hoax?
A top-ranking official at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights has emerged as a potentially key figure in Rolling Stone’s false article, “A Rape on Campus.”
Catherine Lhamon, who heads the Department’s civil rights wing, was identified in a letter sent last month by University of Virginia Dean of Students Allen Groves to Steve Coll and Sheila Coronel, the two Columbia Journalism School deans who conducted a review of the Nov. 19 article, written by disgraced reporter Sabrina Rubin Erdely.
Groves’ letter was included as a footnote to the Columbia deans’ report, which was released on Sunday and cataloged the failures and lies that led to the article’s publication.
In the letter, Groves wrote that he has suffered “personal and professional” damage as a result of Erdely’s reporting and comments Lhamon made about him which were included in the article.
As the Rolling Stone article fell apart, Lhamon’s involvement has gone virtually unmentioned. But a deeper look reveals her ties to Emily Renda, a University of Virginia employee and activist who put Erdely in touch with Jackie, the student whose claim that she was brutally gang-raped by seven members of a fraternity on Sept. 28, 2014, served as the linchpin for the 9,000-word Rolling Stone article. . . . Lhamon has been invited to the White House nearly 60 times, according to visitor’s logs. Renda has been invited six times. Both were invited to the same White House meeting on three occasions.
I wonder if anyone has put in a FOIA request for her emails, and I wonder if they’ll “disappear,” you know?
[From the comments]
It was a coordinated attack right in DC’s backyard, perfect for getting Congress all worked up. Jackie has been telling versions of the lie for two years, Renda has been sharing those lies with reporters and the White House to make it seem that UVA has a serious problem. That’s why UVA was on the short list of schools getting scrutiny. And the RS story gets released right before the holidays so everyone will be talking about it, and, conveniently, just as the White House and the media want to gin up support for more government intervention on campus. We’re to believe it was all a coincidence?
THEY TOLD ME IF I VOTED FOR MITT ROMNEY, WE’D SEE RACISM ACROSS ALL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT. AND THEY WERE RIGHT! Kentucky judge criticized for telling parents they fostered racist behavior in daughter. “A Kentucky judge blamed two parents for their young girl’s ‘constant fear of black men’ after an armed robbery she witnessed, local reports said. The parents argued for a tougher sentence for the man convicted of busting into their Louisville home at gunpoint while their daughter watched ‘Spongebob Square Pants,’ according to the Courier-Journal. Judge Olu Stevens blasted Jordan and Tommy Gray’s victim impact statement at a court hearing in February and again recently in a Facebook post he later deleted. . . . Stevens contends the statement played no role in his decision to sentence the robber, 27-year-old Gregory Wallace, who pleaded guilty to the March 21, 2013, crime, to only five years’ probation.”
Hillary Clinton Was Asked About Email 2 Years Ago
WASHINGTON — Hillary Rodham Clinton was directly asked by congressional investigators in a December 2012 letter whether she had used a private email account while serving as secretary of state, according to letters obtained by The New York Times.
But Mrs. Clinton did not reply to the letter. And when the State Department answered in March 2013, nearly two months after she left office, it ignored the question and provided no response.
The query was posed to Mrs. Clinton in a Dec. 13, 2012, letter from Representative Darrell Issa, the Republican chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. Mr. Issa was leading an investigation into how the Obama administration handled its officials’ use of personal email.
“Have you or any senior agency official ever used a personal email account to conduct official business?” Mr. Issa wrote to Mrs. Clinton. “If so, please identify the account used.”
A crazy thought
Has it occurred to any one that the mission of the U.S.S. Roosevelt might not be to stop the Iranians, but rather to ensure that Israel does not? Administration officials have walked back the initial claim that they were going to prevent the arms from reaching the houthi terrorists. Now it is to keep shipping lanes open. Hello! its an aircraft carrier, not an ice breaker, and this is The Arabian, not the North Sea.
I know, I’m nuts. The problem is we all know who and what occupies the White House.

Comments Off on My reminder that not all nurses have the cast iron stomach
The doc was away today, so a fellow nurse decided to do some desk cleaning in the office. There were papers to be thrown, advertisements to sort, chuck, display, etc, and equipment discovered. One item was a stethoscope which was presented to myself as a bad unit which would need to be replaced as one could not hear out of it. I looked it over and noted that there were no deficits in the workmanship, tubing integrity, or diaphragm integrity. I tried on the unit and tapped the end. The description was right, there was minimal sound to be heard. I checked the tube setting as this was a dual bell stethoscope and one side had an open port, the other had a diaphragm. This was correctly placed, so the problem had to be internal. I looked over the ear pieces, and noted a little crud at the opening into the center of the ear piece and decided these would make a good starting point on the quest for making it work again. I slid off the ear piece and noted ear wax plugging the tube. The other ear piece was removed and revealed the same malady. Well, the problem appeared simple enough, now how on earth do I get the wax out of there? The tube was only a few millimeters in diameter. I went back to the bell and realized that the one side had an open port to the ear tube, so set the tube on that side, cupped my thumb and finger around the bell so I would not have to put it in my mouth, and blew. It was effective. The ear wax spurted out of the tubing and a little hung on the end. This was easily removed with kleenex and another blow completed the tubing clearance. My partner in grime didn’t fare as well – and was looking a bit green around the gills at the result of the procedure. Oh well, all in a day’s work. I finished cleaning the inside of the earpieces with a clorox wipe and bent paperclip and presented a cleaned working stethoscope to the office supply again.

Last night, we altered our menu for the week and decided to use up some filling. Let me back up a bit. At the end of last week, we made some stuffed peppers. The basic recipe came from a book which told how to cook for a day and freeze and use meals for a month. Anyways, one of those recipes was for stuffed peppers with instructions on the filling – where that is made and the peppers are boiled for 3 minutes, stuffed, and baked for half an hour. We discovered that it works well as a bag of stuffing in the freezer without the peppers. When needed, thaw and make the peppers all within the hour. This was the filling left in the refrigerator. We also had half a box of manicotti in the pantry which had graced the shelf for many months. How about combining them? Well, we boiled the manicotti, warmed the stuffing enough to place inside, opened a can of tomato sauce and covered the top, then placed in the oven. After about 40 minutes, we removed them, placed on a plate and sprinkled a little cheese on the top.
I will say it was pretty decent for a few minutes of work.

Every medicine has side effects. The amount of effect and location are entirely determined by the individual. The reason this happens is that problems are very specific – for example, a lack of dopamine in the Left temporal region of the brain. The effects are noted and the doctor prescribes Sinemet to provide the body with the additional dopamine (equivalent, in this case) that the body needs. The side effects come from the fact that pills provide medicine to the entire body, not just the region requiring the additional amount. This applies to all medicines. There are serotonin receptors in the bowel which is why antidepressants cause either diarrhea or constipation and how emotions show up in abdominal symptoms. Therefore, one must gauge the side effects against the desired effect of treatment and decide if it is acceptable.

In my morning Bible reading, I have lately been reading through Job. For those uninitiated, this is a book in the Old Testament, in one place argued as the oldest book of the Bible. The start of the book presents the plot that in heaven, Satan presents himself to God and charges that Job only follows God because of all the good that God has done to him. God allows Satan to remove everything. This includes children, livestock, servants and he is left with his wife who advises “curse God and die.” Satan comes back to God and says that Job is still righteous because he is untouched. God says go ahead, just don’t kill him. Job gets covered with boils and sits in ashes scratching them. At this point in the story, “friends” arrive to be with him. He is in such a state that they sit silent for 7 days, after which, each of the “friends” tries to reason with Job about his sin. They don’t state what the sin was, just that he must have sinned for such evil to befall. Job maintains his innocence.
As surely as God lives, who has denied me justice,
the Almighty, who has made my life bitter,
3 as long as I have life within me,
the breath of God in my nostrils,
4 my lips will not say anything wicked,
and my tongue will not utter lies.
5 I will never admit you are in the right;
till I die, I will not deny my integrity.
I was reading this and it struck me the parallels between this written 5000 years ago, and now. The MSP with entertainment and educational institutions try to convince us that we are not who we are. By not backing homosexual agenda, I am “homophobic”, even though that description on proper definition is entirely false. By accepting the Constitution as it reads and being responsible for my own safety, I am “bitterly clinging to my…” even though “bitter” is not even in the ballpark of my emotional state. By working, planning and saving for retirement, not overspending, and only paying my assigned taxes, i am stealing from others. I am a threat to others when I believe genital groping at the airport is an affront to my person and a violation of the 4th amendment. The modern conservative, Christian, and gun owner is playing the part of Job with the media, politicians, and educators being the three “friends” trying to convince us that we are wrong, or have committed sin by living our lives correctly, following the rules. I will stand with Job against such arguments and maintain my innocence against the modern establishment which has become a soft Marixism – trying to pit one group against another to stir an uprising. Their only existence can be in lies and falsehood as the truth would deny them the power they seek.
6 I will maintain my innocence and never let go of it;
my conscience will not reproach me as long as I live.
