What we realize, eventually, is that sane people are being compelled to adjust their own expectations in order to accommodate the demands of mentally ill people who are unable or unwilling to adjust to reasonable standards of social behavior.

Comments Off on Identity by comparison
I was reading in Revelation 12 this morning and noted an interesting phrase – “that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world”. This sounded like something I had seen earlier in the quron – “and [they] deceived and Allah deceived and Allah is the best of deceivers”. I believe the identity of allah is shown in this comparison. Further down on the page discussing the context of sura 3:54 is a list of comparatives between God in the Bible and satan.
For those of you who have noted my lack of capitalization in certain areas, let me enlighten you to my concept. Actually, it’s not mine originally, but I’m just copying an idea from book I was reading describing characteristics of satan. One of them was pride. Pride led that angel to rebel against God and get kicked out of heaven. The author said that with pride being one of satan’s characteristics, he would not even provide him a capitalization for his name. I thought that was a good idea and have applied it to satan and his followers since.

i was directed to this video by siblinginbox. Sad to say, it’s very accurate. The author does a fantastic job as well as the performer. The faces of recognition of what’s being spoken and implicated work well. On that note I wanted to chirp a thought from my branch. I had an exchange with one of our younger crowd and was duly impressed with the number of items recalled. These items were random animal and habitat facts from Brazil. I was mulling on the exchange and realized a sad implication. Our present generation is being taught trivia and told it’s an education. Kids are running around spouting facts and figures and having the emotional assurance that they are knowledgeable, without being able to properly make change. The practical skills and knowledge needed are not being provided. This paves the way for someone with that knowledge to be in charge. So, though the fear mentioned in the song is that someone of that level will be president, actually, it will be someone from a private school who had to actually work at learning proper information.
I would be happy to be wrong about this, but have seen too much information on this mindset to believe the opposite. There is a classic line in moves which I also heard from a former military guy. This military guy was trained in hand-to-hand combat by a short Filipino. He said the troop was rather dismissive about their new instructor and actually ignored his commands. The exchange that followed was the short Filipino saying to a big 6′ soldier “do you think you can take me?” at which point the 6′ soldier said, “I don’t think so, I know so.” The Filipino looked at the troop and asked if anyone else thought so too. There were five more hands. The Filipino looked back at the 6′ guy and said, “I will take you out first, then you two jump me at the same time and I will take you out next, then you three jump me and I will take you out last.” The exchange went just as the Filipino stated with 6 men on the ground. How was this accomplished? The Filipino had knowledge and skill the men didn’t. The classic line – “I taught you everything you know. I didn’t teach you everything I know.”
When information is not disseminated, an individual is placed at disadvantage to the one who possesses the information. I believe that is the reason for the founders providing such a high priority on passing information (mail service is in the Constitution) and the reason our present crew is trying to teach as little as possible. Slaves were not to learn. They might obtain ideas. They might not follow the dictates of their “betters.” Those with real knowledge might actually do something on their own. *gasp* One may call this cynical. I think it’s just acknowledging the behavior observed.

Is it just me, or do scenes from Star Wars come to mind on that section through the trees? There is a slight temptation, but I know the consequences for a slightly wrong turn, so will enjoy the view from my chair.

Comments Off on First Road Trip
Spouseinbox and I are taking off for a camping trip. It’s anniversary week and we try to get away a this time every year. I say “try” as life does happen. Anyways, we were looking at money supply as this Spring has been rather rough and tried to decide what to do for the week that was 1.) relaxing, 2.) a different place from where we had gone previously, 3.) affordable. After considering options, we chose camping at a nearby state. I didn’t ask about having passports when leaving God’s country, but so be it. We are going to hike and fish. I informed spouseinbox that I would do so, and the fish were quite safe with me. I’m the opposite of that bumper sticker stating “fish tremble at the sound of my voice.” They look at me and say, “lunch.” On that note, I was fishing off a pier in Long Island and had a spider crab enjoying my bait. I would feel a tug, reel in the line, and there was this crab holding the line with one claw and feasting on my bait with another. When there was too little water contact, he would let go and await another offering. I finally quit fishing. I was really wanting to do something other than feed a crab that day. Now do you understand my comment of “lunch?”
So as the plans were swirling in the hopper, it happened to be that this trip would take us near a relative of spouseinbox. That’s cool. We can drop in and say hi. I offered the possibility of doing Samson for them and heard back that their church would really like a performance. We brushed up the trailer, added acrylic calk to each rivet, added tie-downs inside on the frame and secured the equipment and readied the trailer and all contents for a trip across Texas. This will be our first performance on the road – so to speak. We asked the relative to send pictures of the platform and will have an interesting time fitting the stage items on their stage. That’s one challenge of doing this – the equipment has to be flexible enough to adapt to whatever stage is available. In our case, we need a decent back distance for the projector, mirror, rear-projection screen which also doubles as our changing area and storage for props. From the pictures sent, we may have to step off the main stage to utilize the floor in front as there isn’t a lot of depth to the stage. I guess it’s like nursing – you have to be flexible and adapt to the situation at hand.
Mominbox is going to stay and look after things here and we have church folks to look in on her during our outing. That noted, we are trying another first – Batman and Robin are joining us. So, we are doing a trip across Texas pulling a home-made trailer with 30 pounds of canine (combined) to camp,
feed fish go fishing in another state, and stop to perform Samson in a church in which we have never stepped a toe. Sounds interesting to me. Just note that there will be no postings as we will only have a solar cooler for drinks and all other food was chosen as it could be kept at room temperature. Yes, no internet for a week. We don’t even know if there will be cell service there, so phones are in question. If there is no cell service, we will be as removed as on our cruise at our first anniversary. The provisions won’t be as fancy though.
For any interested, the cooler we have is one of those 12 volt Coleman electronic coolers that is rated at 40 degrees below ambient. We have a solar cell which is rated just over double of the wattage of the cooler and a battery pack with controller to – hopefully – charge the battery through the day and keep it running through the night. This is also a first, so I can’t say how well it will work yet. That’s why we are going to only use it for a drink cooler and not trust it to keep any food. Having the temperature only relative to ambient temp is also a consideration. An actual refrigerator running on 12 volts is available, but priced out of sight for us – this year.
Well, I’ve rambled enough and with final preparations coming today don’t know if I’ll make it back here before the trip. Therefore, I’ll wish you a pleasant rest of the week until I can report on the performance and camping.
